Taped to my easel is this quote by artist Ellsworth Kelly (b.1923): "The most pleasurable thing in the world for me is to see something and then translate how I see it." Me, too!
My long-time affinity for dark outlines in drawing has come forth in the pleasurable practice of acrylic painting. Working from photos I take of subject matters that make me feel good (flowers, fruit, and food being some of my favorites), I make simplified drawings/ interpretations of them and then "color them in" with layers of paint. I've been working this way since about 2002. Someone described my style as "somewhere between a coloring book and stained glass," and that is pretty accurate! I also enjoy painting commissions of particular subject matters, especially food (see box at bottom of page). Unless otherwise stated, all paintings are done on gallery wrap canvas (with painting continuing on sides), requiring no additional frame.
